“We need more women in the workplace and tech has to be more inclusive because right now, tech is more of like a bro culture” - Connie Carey, President of Aleph Talent Solutions
Symph is back again with another Tech Listens event, our monthly event dedicated to exploring the intersection of technology and various industries. For Women’s Month, we celebrated the remarkable contributions of different industry women leaders who shared about women empowerment, overcoming challenges in male-dominated fields, and carving strong career paths.
Our event Tech Listens: Game Changers was held at From Here, Crossroads last March 14, 2024. We brought together over 60 attendees from the tech community, young professionals, and students eager to engage, network and learn.
Here are some of our highlights:
Highlighting Women’s Voices
The diversity of our speakers range from HR, food business, construction, and agriculture industries. These are Teresa D. Ruelas from the Communities for Alternative Food Ecosystems Initiative, Margarita "Margo" Frasco of Titays, Gretchen Choa from The Camden Trading Group, and Connie Barrientos-Carey from Aleph Talent Solutions.
These women talked about their journey of being an empowered woman in the workplace and in life. Some of the topics they highlighted are experiences in navigating male-dominated industries, the importance of perseverance, and the ways in which technology has been a game-changer in their careers.
Fostering Connections
For Tech Listens: Game Changers, we gathered a good mix of 70% professionals and 30% academe. The networking activity, speaker sessions, and panel discussions created a dynamic environment for attendees to connect, share experiences, and foster meaningful relationships. This interactive setting not only amplified the voices of our speakers but also provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within their respective fields.
Encouraging Empowerment and Diversity
Tech Listens: Game Changers was more than an event; it was a testament to the strength and resilience of women in various industries and the transformative power of technology. We are inspired by the stories shared and the connections made, and we look forward to continuing this journey of empowerment and innovation. Not only that, we always encourage diversity and equality, as our event gathered an audience 65% male and 35% female.
“Equality is in our hands. What we do today will always resonate with what will happen tomorrow. What happens today, what happens to the business, how we take care of each other, it will all depend on what our future will be.” - Margo Frasco, COO of Titay’s

We are reminded of the power of technology to accelerate intelligence and drive positive change. This event has further solidified our commitment to growing our tech community where people can listen, learn, and identify opportunities for impact beyond their immediate sphere.
We would like to thank our official sponsor Synacy, our community partner The Company Cebu, and our venue partner From Here for helping make Tech Listens possible!
