How we trained Metro Retail's team on Google Workspace and Gemini

Metro Retail, one of the largest retail chains in the Philippines with over 60 stores nationwide, moved its teams onto Google Workspace to get more done with less friction, and our team at Symph supported them through it.

We organized and ran a workshop for Metro Retail's team, built around how people across the company could use Google Workspace to improve their workflows and communication.

The workshop

We started with 31 participants from different departments at Metro Retail, all there to learn how Google Workspace tools could make their tasks simpler and faster.

The first part covered skills they use every day. Their administrators learned to manage user access to keep data secure and to set up two-step verification to protect sensitive information, which lowers risk and keeps digital work running smoothly across the company.

Training for everyday work

Next we moved to end-user training on Google Meet, Calendar, Docs and Gemini. We built it around real situations, such as "How can I quickly create incident reports?" or "How can I find my team's common available times for a meeting?", and worked through them in live demonstrations and hands-on sessions so participants learned by doing.

We also ran group activities and challenges where participants worked out solutions to problems like this one: "An employee left their phone or laptop in a public space, and it was stolen. You need to ensure no sensitive company data is compromised. What do you do?"

Those who answered correctly won gift cards, which made it a friendly competition. We kept the whole day on practical, everyday use, since that is what a busy team like Metro Retail needs.

The workshop was part of helping Metro Retail get more from its investment in Google Workspace. We are supporting their plan for a more collaborative and efficient workplace by finding ways to simplify their workflows, cut friction from daily tasks and serve their customers better.
